Lead with Love

Someone recently asked me what we can do as parents to ensure our little ones are open, accepting, inclusive of all people and all types of families.

Our babes come into this world as a pure manifestation of love, unburdened by the prejudices that society may hold. They embody the essence of acceptance, compassion, and inclusivity that we, as adults, strive to cultivate in our communities. They remind us that love knows no boundaries, no labels, and no limitations. They already inherently know that “love is love.”

As our kiddos grow, they will embark on their own journeys of self-discovery and self-expression. Our babies and toddlers are not blank slates waiting to be molded, but unique individuals with their own inherent qualities and preferences.

It is important to recognize that identity and sexual orientation are deeply personal and can evolve over time. You may notice traits and inclinations in them that challenge societal norms. and it is our job to make sure they feel safe and loved throughout their exploration of identity.

As parents and caregivers, it is our privilege and responsibility to nurture and protect the innate goodness our children are born with. To create an environment that embraces diversity, teaches empathy, and celebrates individuality. To provide them with unwavering support and unconditional love, free from judgment or preconceived notions. To make sure they feel safe and love throughout their exploration of identity.

When we lead with love, understanding, and respect, we help shape a world where our children can thrive and embrace their true selves.

It is my hope that this generation of parents are raising our children to be beacons of love, tolerance, and understanding in a world that often needs it the most. So, as we witness our babes’ giggles, their innocent smiles, and their limitless curiosity, let us be inspired to build a world that recognizes and celebrates the diversity of love.

May their pure hearts remind us to embrace each other, to stand up for what is right, and to create a future where love is the guiding force. Together, we can foster a society where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, is accepted, valued, and cherished for who they are.
